Arif Ahmed, a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, briefly retraces the traditional philosophical disputes on religion and illustrates the tension between religious belief and individual freedom, concentrating on two issues: whether it can be said that religion is “true”, and the risks of basing our concept of morality on religious faith.
