Partnerships for sustainable development: searching for theoretical and methodological perspectives
Taking up the challenges of sustainability in international development requires the involvement and cooperation of many subjects, including government authorities, international organizations, private companies, civil society organizations, universities and local communities. The round table will set in motion a reflection on inter-sectorial partnerships, on the role that power imbalances have in shaping them and on the cultural, political and institutional framework in which they occur. The discussion will focus on how challenges and partnerships for sustainability are politically and socially constructed and shaped in mainstream discourses and practices, in order to outline theories and perspectives that can guide research on partnerships and on sustainable development.
This initiative is organized as part of the first POST (Partnership Orchestrating Sustainability Transformations) workshop, a project belonging to the EELISA alliance, in which the Scuola Normale is participating with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
